Affairs with Flair DC collaborated with the delightful couple, Pooja and Manik, to orchestrate their Sangeet, Ceremony, and Reception. My initial encounter with the family took place at a Starbucks in Maryland, where we intended to acquaint ourselves and discuss the event requirements. What was planned as an hour-long meeting extended to a delightful 4-hour session! During this time, I not only felt integral to the planning process but swiftly became a cherished part of the family.
I valued the opportunity to contribute insights on every aspect of the planned events. Our journey commenced with planning the Sangeet at the enchanting La Grange Winery in Haymarket, Virginia. Understanding the bride’s vision for décor was paramount, and I worked closely with her, engaging in numerous discussions and reviewing photos. Subsequently, I identified a local vendor capable of bringing her vision to life. To add a personalized touch, I curated a custom drink menu, complete with beautifully designed signs featuring the couple’s signature drinks (two specialty margaritas).
Ensuring seamless transportation for guests from the hotel to the vineyard for the Sangeet was another task. I researched and secured competitive rates for this service. Collaborating with both families, I undertook extensive work on crafting menus for all events, involving multiple restaurants across various functions. This encompassed liaising with caterers, obtaining quotes, organizing tastings, and finalizing menus with signed contracts.
Transitioning to logistical details, I coordinated with the Reston Sheraton event coordinator on rooming lists for out-of-town guests, ballroom layout, and catering logistics. Collaborating closely with the couple, I crafted the day-of schedule for the Sangeet, wedding, and reception. Communication with vendors was crucial, ensuring everyone was well-informed about locations, tasks, and event timings. The cooperation from all vendors was commendable, resulting in flawless execution according to the established timeline.
Working with the families, and especially the delightful bride and groom, Pooja and Manik, was a fantastic experience. I extend my heartfelt wishes for a joyous married life filled with love. Looking forward, I hope this connection endures.
